Trumpets, the award-winning theater group that created the longest-running Philippine musicale, Joseph the Dreamer was in town to stage a two-hour, value-laden, fun-filled life-size puppet musicale, MR. NOAH’S BIG BOAT.

Mr. Noah’s Big Boat was staged at SM Cinema 1 last February 25, which had three shows on that day, 10:30 a.m., 3:00 p.m., And 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Noah’s Big Boat topbills Mr. And Mrs. Noah, with their children Ham, Shem and Japeth. The cast jaded neighbors who don't want to help Noah do good in the world and instead laughed at him. The show featured the voices of Mr. Pure Energy GARY VALENCIANO as Mr. Noah, and the Soul Queen BITUIN ESCALANTE as Mrs. Noah and Robi Joseph as Noah’s pet dog Newt. The show was written and directed by JAIME DEL MUNDO.

The rest of the voices are provided by some of the best musical theater actors around - Noel Rayos, Sweet Plantado, Mayen Bustamante, Jennie Nuyda, Johann de la Fuente and Topper fabregas. Trumpets co-founder and director Freddie Santos is the voice of God.

The show was all about faith and obedience performed in comic, but nonetheless, heart-rendering fashion. Noah, an environmentalist, bemoans the fact that his neighbors have made the world a huge garbage dump. His gospel-singing wife can’t cook and his three kids question his every instruction.

When Noah was called by God to build a ship in the middle of the arid dessert, he, too, has questions, but eventually obeys. So do his wife and sons and their journey together for 40 days and nights through a fascinating, humorous and melodic experience that teaches unity, obediance, trust and the power of prayer.

Various art forms are combined to make a play the rich product that it is - puppetry, mask, mime, dance and musical comedy.

What happens to Mr. And Mrs. Noah, Ham Shem and Japeth and their coterie of animals in the ark will make for a wonderful joy ride for AXS KIDZ.
