Aboard Mr. Noah's Boat
The Freeman, Kidstuff, by Teacher Bia, Sunday February 27, 2005

I love to travel. I enjoy being carried by fast airplanes and speedy boats. But aboard Mr. Noah’s Big Boat was different. It wasn’t a big boat actually-it was an Ark.

The show
The show was fabulous! Trumpets, the award winning production outfit, really knew what they were doing when they come up with the values-laden, fun-filled life size puppet musicale, Mr. Noah’s Big Boat, And AXS Kidz Card knew how to value the kids with the showl.

The Puppets
For a child of 5, the puppets would have locked “bigger than life”. At least that’s what Karilie said when I asked her what she thought of the adorable life-size puppets. But to 4 year old Sean, “ they look huggable and I want to bring them home” as what he said. The puppets of Mr. And Mrs. Noah, their kids Shem, Ham, and Jopeth, all the animals especially Newt, the lovable descendant of Mr. Noah’s dog ( who told the story), all looked bright and lovely. The animals reminded me of my own stuffed toys. They looked soft and cuddily. I was actually expecting to see some strings attached to the puppets. Instead, the puppeteers were all on stage too ( wearing block), manipulating

the parts of the dolls, like the hands and the feet to make the puppets dance. It was very fascinating to see. When the stage light were not so bright, it’s amazing to see the puppets move. They look just like cartoons on TV that kids enjoy watching.

The Voices
The voices of Mr. Gary Valenciano, Ms. Bituin Escalante and other talented musical theater actors gave life to the puppets and made the story more interesting. One of the kids besides me gushed when Mr. Noah was singing. “Mom, he dances just like Gary VJ”. The songs were something you can tap your heels with the tune and lyrics are easy that at the end of the show the kids were heard humming the songs.

The Story
I was alarmed at the first to see the stage of filth and dirt that was “the world” because I can so relate. Our world can be full of rubbish. And I’m not just talking about the places. People who do nothing for the good of mankind are like dirt that needs to be cleaned up. And that’s what God did. He washed the workd of all kinds of filth and made a new beginning.

And just like a new beginning, this is also a new down for AXS Kidz Card. Watch out for more thrilling events and promotions. AXS Kidz Card is the first ever value card for kids aged 2-12 years old. For more information call 412-5560.

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah’s Ark…

  • One: Don’t miss the boat.
  • Two: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
  • Three: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
  • Four: Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
  • Five: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
  • Six: Build your future on high ground.
  • Seven: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
  • Eight: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
  • Nine: When you’re stressed, float a while.
  • Ten: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
  • Eleven: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.
